Throttle cable for super six conversion
Hi
Thanks to all the listers who have answered my previous super six conversion questions. Heres where I am in the project. I got a big lot of parts of ebay. The lot included 2 carbs both in need of a rebuild. I have the correct holley 2280 2bbl and a bigger 500 cfm holley with an adaptor plate to fit it to the super six manifold. First question, is 500 cfm too much for everyday driving? How badly will my off the line launches be impacted by the bigger carb? Id like to use it but I dont want to make the car unfun to drive. Also, if I use the 2280, I read I will need a thicker carb mounting gasket or even a spacer so the throttle cable will clear the manifold. Where can I get one of these? or what will work to help solve this problem? Second question, I havent managed to get a throttle cable yet. I read that all I need is a shorter cable off a 318 car. Can I get a new one at napa or some other parts store? Finally, I read I am going to need to make a new fuel line because the one from the 1bbl wont work due to the inlet being located in a different area. Any tips on this? Should I just bend the tubing in a way that will line up right or is there some trick or is there a pattern anywhere that I can use to make sure I get it right? Thanks in advance -Charles |

In order here:
1. 500 is too big unless it's a real hot built engine. Off line throttle response will stink to high heaven. 2 bbl gasket is standered /6 and 318 gasket. Only aftermarket real cheap companies make the paper thin ones which are junk. 2. You can use the old one without any problem, but if it's too long and for looks getone at a parts house or junk yard. 3. Bend the fule line. May have to cut the fitting off with extra line left to the fitting, out it into the card and connect back to the original line with fuel line rubber hose and this is also a good place to put the fuel filter in. |

I have a question in regards to the throttle linkage.
I'm in the middle of a super six conversion on a '64 Dart wagon. I have the manifold and carb, but the setup on the carb has the throttle assembly shifted to the side. Its got the old rod style linkage. What are my options here. I asked the Napa guys and they just stared blankely. |

If your not building a show car then throw the linkage out and get a Lokar kick down cable set up.

unklcid, a cheaper way to convert. Go to a junkyard, and get a complete gas pedal and cable assy from a later model mopar. I have not done a super six, so I'm not sure about the length of the cable needed. What I have used for different carb setups, is the parts from a 2.2 liter front drive mopar car. These cables are long enough for most anything.
