Question Axles for 8.25 rear

My Dart has an 8.25 rear with 2.45:1 gears.
My intention is to rebuild the rear with a limited slip unit and 3.55 gears. My car has a modestly built 360. I WILL be replacing the axles, but: Would a stock set of axles be good enough? OR Should I spring for a set of aftermarket upgrades?

NOTE: This is not a race car..It will RARELY see the 1/4 mile. Mostly it will be a street rod, driven for fun. Even if i rework the motor in the future, I doubt it will ever make more than 450 HP.

My 8 1/4 was rebuilt with stock axles and 4:10 suregrip. It's behind a wrmed over 360 4-speed. I've beaten the thing like a step-child for 2 years now and it hasn't shown any signs of twist or breakage. I must admit I was very sceptical of this rear with my driving style. I think you'll be just fine with stock axles.

Agreed, I've been running one in my Valiant for the last 6 years with a 360 and 318 and 4-speed, no trouble. I did find that the cross shaft had some wear and was allowing the spider gears to make a little noise. I installed a new cross shaft and death bolt, and also a Powertrax Lockright locker, and it's been smooth sailing ever since. The Lockright is a tad on the brutal side, but when it's locked, it's LOCKED...

Keep the stock axles if that's all you'll be doing.

This will help you save you money for that bad boy 8 3/4 rearend down the road.....
