O.K.- This is GOSSIP, right! My neighbour is into Chevs and couldn't tell the truth for $1,000,000,000. He lies to cover lies to cover... I could tell 1000 stories, but it's really pointless. His "BULLET" Chev lost to my hydraulic cammed 440 Demon so bad it wasn't funny, with most of BOTH of our friends in attendance. He now won't race, no matter what, yet insists if we DID race, "neither of us would win by THAT much". Yeah, right.
Am I alone with this kind of neighbour?!?

At one point in my mechanic career I did "time" at a Pontiac/Buick dealer. It was great fun defeating those Buick GN's with my Road Runner.

My neighbour is, however, not just a boorish liar about cars. He knows better Pizza places, his lawnmower is better, his this is quicker and that is more expensive.......blah blah blah.
Nonstop garbage from him AND his wife. She is THE rudest person I've met.

Thumbs up

There,s a guy in this town,(under4000 people) who has to have averything better or faster than anyone. Last year ,before I rebuilt my motor, we raced. and yup you guessed it he beat me by about 1 car length. The sad part is it,s a pretty nice dodge stealth. we,ll now I see him and I tell him, new headers thats all I,ve done.Go get your car lets try this again, but he won,t, small town word travels fast I guess. I,ll see him this summer, can,t wait to beat him. I wanna see what he,ll buy next. lmao

There's the difference. My neighbour would just tell you he entered all the facts of both your cars on his desktop dyno and that he beat you by 5 lengths. Then, when you weren't around he would "spread the word".
He has the slowest "570" horse vehicle I've ever seen. The local speedshop guy that sold him his parts went for a ride with him and said he figured it went 14's. That's a far cry from his claimed 10.82.
His wife just likes to insult everyone and everything, trying to make herself seem better. BOY, DOES IT WORK!!! lol lol lol

I think 569.5 of those horses are coming from his mouth.
There's a guy that was probably never told NO when he was a kid. Maybe you should tell him that he REALLY needs a new (functional) computer.

Wink

Take a paper lunch bag full of dog s**t and leave it on their front porch. One of them will step on it when they come outside. Be sure to tell eveyone about it. This might shut them up for awile.

I won't even bother commenting on his 570HP.

Sounds like Marc's neighbor had a bad childhood. My neighbors are pretty cool, they don't ride me for driving Mopars although most of them solicit me for advice as I'm the neighborhood mechanic too.But I did convince my next door neighbor to buy a 99 Dodge Ram 1500 instead of a new "Chebby".He's glad he did and is looking foreward to the new Ram.

I'll tell ya, some of my best friends have owned Chevs or own them, and I have no problem at all with it. I like any car with four wheels.
My neighbours problems' are in their BRAINS, nothing at all to do with brands, etc...

The chevy gang..
I have some interesting neighbours also.I have one fellow who raced a 1967 Camaro ,427 car , this guy was running 12.76 in the 1/4 ,my Dodge buddy beat him with his 1968 440 Dart ,the chevy boy never would admit to it and the friendship sufferd. I beat the same cars best ET @ the track my first time out ,12.38 with a 440 dart , now this guy had been racing this car for years and me 1 weekend. Well I ended up running 12.06 and that really got this guy pissed. I could see his house from mine and this fellow changed cams ,transmissions ,torque converters ,carbs and who knows what else, best et 12.28 ... We use to whatch him and laugh about how the dodge boys were drinking beer and partying while the chevy boy was working on his car.He built a 64 Nova 400 11.5 comp ,stripped and it ran 11.7 s ,well this car weighs 2800 lbs max and had real deep gears . My dart is a street car that weighs 3615 me included and has done 11.79 .The book says 1/10 for every 100 lbs ,you do the math.My other chevy neighbours built a 68 comaro ,fiberglass front end ,painted in headlights ,totally stripped,468 cu in 14.1 engine, four link, you name its got it. Well after engine # 4 they finally got it to run a 10.50 at the track on a street race day,(the track let them test and tune that day) you know what the guy said ,I might as well go home there is no competition here. This was a door slammer street day not a event. Now the car has sat for two years and is just the chevy guy conversational piece, yup I got a fast car but I wont race it....????. Did you ever notice that all chevy guys cars do wheelies and that all 350 s are really fast, and my 396 ,427or 454 will beat anybody anytime ,but not tonight because ....of some lame excuse.Hell I had a 11.5 to 1 440 6 pack dart this street car ran low 11s with 4.10 gears I took a chevy budy for a ride and smoked the tires for a half mile(245 60 R15 ) street tires , you know what he said to his buddies it cant be a posi. It wasnt it was a sure grip you loser. GMC Give Me Chrysler

Cool

The problem with the hard core chevy guys is they won't even consider the possibility that another brand might be good. I think all the brands have something good. My dad has a newer Chevy truck and I like it as much as I like mine.

I have too many friends who are like this and they piss me off. And they all drive s**t cars to boot! They all like the Cutlas type cars and a couple of them have modified cars. My stock Dakota is very close to them. They think my truck weighs 3500lbs and say that's why it goes well. It weighs 4000lbs+ with fluids! And the truck, while powerful, is hardly a hardly a racing vehicle.

These guys just have s**t cars but refuse to admit it. Maybe I should find some new friends.

GM guys lie because they are taught by example.
First 1 HP per cubic inch.
First musclecar.
Fastest 1/4 mile, stock.
Can't beat the Dodge boys.

Did I say that out loud? OOOPS!

Desk Top Dyno doesnt help either .The chevy boys can plug in a 10.0 to 1 350 and make 500 hp or a 9.5 to 1-454 and make 700 hp and run pump gas and a hydraulic cam . I own a version of desk top dyno or should I say Chevy horsepower exagerator program . Try desk top drag strip look at the horse power a 502 chevy makes alot better than the general ships to you. Where do these guys get these numbers or is every chevy guy a Ligerfelter.Or is it that is all you need is a set of header a aluminum intake ,a 268 comp cam and a 750 holley and my 8.5 to 1/ 350 will make 500 hp . Good luck . But they gobble it up ,sounds to me like these guys are really gullable or just not real smart.

There's only one way I found that can prove to this guy how wrong his desktop dyno really is.

It must be a chevy thing. I knew a guy once that swore his 350 nova ran 10.0s on the street and that he wouldn't race for less than a 1,000 dollars. Thing was he never had a grand and even though he was in his mid twenties he hung out with highschool kids that didn't have a grand to waste either. And who ever heard of a 10.0 street car that had to have bleach to spin the tires. And then he swore all 350s ever made were exactly the same. Ya, right I had a Van special 350 that had stock 2.02 valves and a Rochester Quadra Jet, I garuantee it was different from a two barrel 350 out of a pickup. How can chevy guys be so ignorant so consistently. they actually turned me away from chevy. I argued for years and stil do that swapping 350 heads onto a 305 does not make a 350. How could it? I don't remember the heads having anything to do with bore and stroke. And one last thing. If 350 heads make a 305 run better and 305 heads make a 350 run better. Why doesn't chevy build them that way in the first place????? I always thought that was a good question.
