Help How to replace factory 6x9s

I have a song 50x4 deck.
I bought a set of alpine 6x9s for my truck. I had the stock infinity system with the amps on the backs of the front speakers and the tweeters by the windsheld. What I wanna know is if I did it right. I remove the ol' 6x9s and put in the alpines, I screwed the amp for the old 6x9s and put it on the alpine, cause I didn't know what all the wires were for (which were power, ground, ect..) I just replaced the speaker and hooked it up the same as the other one because I was scared that there was a cross over in that amp that was just sending the highs to the tweets and I didn't wanna damage them by removing it.

Is this the right way to do it?

If I was going to hook an amp up to those 6x9s at a later date, could I just remove the speaker wires giong to the 6x9s and run new ones from the "new" amp mounted somewhere else and leave that old amp to power the seperate tweeters?

Sorry about the long post. Thanks

Jon

wow, Ive never seen anyone go to the trouble of reusing the factory amp before! very impressive. There should be no problems running the stereo this way, but if you want to run a new amp you will have to remove the factory amps. the factory tweeters have their own crossovers - a capacitor in the A-pillars wired in series. If you want you can run all the speakers right of the deck, just run new wire to the ones in the doors and T off for the tweeters in parrallel. You can even re-use the origional wire if you can determine the colours. Hope this helps.

Sweet, thanks man. You wouldn't happen to know what color the speaker wires are would you?
