Racing with an early 727
Need some feedback on using an early 727 with short housing (I think its a´65) with the different spline count input shaft.
It will be used for street/mostly strip behind a hot 360. It has a manual valve body, additional friction plates and a 9" converter. Thanks |

I use an early cable sifted 727 in my Dart. What type of feedback are you looking for?
I changed to the later input shaft, removed the rear pump, and also removed the parking mechanism. I do have a pre-67 race HEMI converter for the early shaft that is in good shape. Billy |

The real down side to the early small input shaft is the lack of variety in converter choice, other than that the only major weak point is some early 3 pinion planetaries had half-pinned axle shafts that are known to break and allow the shafts to come out
