I wnet to my machinest today and he pulled out a set of old 346 been there for years, he ported 12 years early, he hit water on one of them, heliarc it and never fooled with them again. He cut down BB Chevy 2.18 intake valves and regrooved for the retainer. I am telling you they say that a Eddy head will out flow any cast iron head thats been ported, Bull Shit...these heads was amazingly ported, looked like CNC job. But now people like Aero/Indy makes the 2.18/1.88 valves for them for under $200 a set. I would say that big valve would be a waste of money unless there ported big, and right by places like Hughes Stage 3 port jobs. Go with the 2.14/1.81 and have them opened under the bowls and runners. Dont forget the port match intake go about 2 inches in the runners, on the heads and intake. Did you catch vthe thread that Cuda66 done on valve sizes Vs port velocity?

You don't want to shroud the valve, either with the cylinder bore or by having the chamber wall too close to the valve. If you can blend the valve seat into the chamber wall and not uncover the top of the cylinder wall, that will be the best aid to airflow. Bigger valves give more low lift airflow, but it they're shrouded, they will hinder mid and high lift flow rates.

No, i missed the thread Cuda did.

So basically i can use those valves and not worry about anything if i port them/ or get them ported correctly.

Serdi 30 deg deshroud cut will help flow tremendously in the low lifts. Yes the 2.14/1.81 will be the way to go.
