What's the gap on...
the point set for the 225 in my '74 Scamp?? Doing tune up as it seems to be scattering the spark inside the cap from moisture in the mornings. I believe the points are worn and it has a small gap between the cap and housing. Either way, it starts real hard, misfires until it warms up, and then idles at 3000 until the cold idle circuit closes. Then it keeps up with most 5.slows....
Just don't have any tune-up specs.... |

The point gap is .017. you should find out why there is a gap between the cap and dist. housing. You need a tight fit in order to keep dirt and moisture out.

Had the same problem on a /6 in a '73 Duster before. A little silicone goes a long way.....

Unless it's been changed, your 225 does not have points as it's electronic. The reluctor gap is .008 and needs a brass or other non magnectic feeler gauge to set it. It seems the some slant six distributors aren't finnish machined to where the cap goes on easily. It's harder to get the caps on correctly compared to the V-8 dists. Sounds like the choke assembly needs adjusting, 3000 rpms is high for the fast idle.

Found it is a '72 distributor and I've changed it to the electronic that I wanted. As far as the carb, I'm trying to rebuild the 2 bbl off of my extra 318 manifold so I can use the manifold my buddy just gave me on her Dart. Which leaves me the 1bbl carb from hers that I just rebuilt last week....
