Default Quick oil question

After building the 440 in my Cuda and breaking it in with a summer of driving I want to change the oil and switch to synthetic. After looking at about a dozen different kinds at the parts store and not knowing which one the use, I thought I'd ask you guys. Any ideas about brand and weight? Thanks for the help.

How did you build your 440? Stock clearances? Use 5-30 or 10-30 I use 10-30 Valvoline full synthetic. . Some people here like Moble. I don't think brands are much different.

I use Mobile 1, but any name brand would be good. Mobile 1 doesn't have any VI (viscosity improvers) in it as the oil doesn't get thin when hot or thick when cold. The other name brands probably don't have them either. Another interesting note is the 0 W 30 Mobile 1 offers. How thin is 0 weight oil???

I recommend Mobil 1 or Red Line. I know that Corvette, Porsche, and I think Mercedes Benz use Mobil 1 in their new engines. Start off right and you'll be set.

Good luck.

6packin,
If you follow SAE specs it would be 30wt when hot. The first is at 0deg C the last is 100deg C. My point was that without "VI" additives it will meet the SAE specs for any weight from 0 to 50. Don't quote me on this, but if I remember correctly the viscosity change was under 10% from -60F to 400F. Joe, the additives in convention oil are synthetic so conventional oil could be labeled a "Blend". Stay with a full synthetic.
