I would get with Don (cuda66273) and see what he cn do for you. You may even wish to consider upgrading the distributor with a MOPAR electronic unit (depends on how stock/original you want to keep the car).

Pertronix has a points to electronic conversion kit that looks stock...and the control box can be put under the dash to hide it..

It runs great. No problems at all. High rpm's at 7000 no problems. Idles smooth also. Starts great, a couple cranks or less every time, even when cold and setting for a couple weeks. Even with a 750 Eddy that isn't even closely set to this engine, just thrown on until I get a Demon, in a couple years the way things are going now!

..a couple of years...geeze tom if I had your money I'd have 2 Demons...one for the car and one just to look at....LOL

If any of you guys have changed the cam, carb, heads compression ratio or added any other performance bolt on parts you'll get a lot better performance with a distributor that's curved and phased.

Even the stock Mopar engines need distributor work, you wouldn't believe how well my 86 pick-up/360 runs with one of our stage 1 distributors and Road Demon bolted on....Awesome!

Better mileage (11 to 14), quicker starts, lower ET's (almost a full second) better shifting points.....massive improvement!

If you do nothing else a distributor curve and phase will be the best money you ever spend.

I just had mine done by don, and downtime is not too long. maybe a week and a half/two weeks? something like that. If you are not concerned with getting your actual dist back, you can order one up and mail him yours for a core.

Default distributor set up

I also am interested in determining if my 360 dist needs anything. I think it is a 1973 unit with reluctor. It has cent advance and vacumn advance. I would like someone to tell me a good source of reading info about these 2 types of advance. When do they come into play; what type of engine deserves only cent advance; etc.

I hear that Don is the man for mods, but I need to read up first to determine if I even need any mods.

Any good literature out there on this?
