Default 90 Deg Oil Filter Adaptor

I just bought (used) the cast iron 90 deg oil filter adaptor for my 360 at the Farmington NC meet last weekend. It came without any gaskets. The seller told me that there is a really thick gasket that goes on the inside, around the hollow bolt, and that many folks have assemblied the unit incorrectly (without this thick gasket) and strange stuff happens to the direction of oil flow.

Q1) What is the mopar part number I need to buy to get all the correct gaskets. Does it come with great instructions? Where is a good place to buy this part other than the local Dodge house?

Q2) Any folks with experience when the gaskets are not done correctly?

I think I need this 90 adaptor in order to install the HP exhaust manifolds that I am installing.

It's been a long time since I did that swap. I think you can use the oil filter gasket? Double check this of course. Or make one from gasket material from the speed shop.

When rebuilding my engine, I also noticed a thick center gasket with a much thinner gasket around the outer perimeter of the adaptor. The gasket set I bought has what looks to be a gasket for this adaptor. Its the same outer diameter, but has 3 legs going to the round center gasket. The whole thing is the same thickness. What kind of oil flow issues will occur if I use this one?

www.jimsautoparts.com has yhe gaskets your looking for, I'm sure other places do too. The thick gasket is cork and goes on the bolt on the block side pn# eg-3793, the one for the adaptor itself is pn# eg-1015. I don't know anything about weird oil flow issues, but would be interested. Hope this helps.

Used this one many times over without any problems. With manifolds you want need this and most likely wont need it with headers either. A bodies are the tightest fit and I just use the ph43 short filter instead of th 8a filter on them and it does not makes a diffrence running the short filter.

I used to use the short filter but I decided to use the adaptor and the larger filter because I thought the larger filter might be better at filtering out junk in the oil. After reading the oil filter article that was subject to so much debate here at Moparchat few months back, I am now confused as to what brand of filter to use. I guess it's time for some searching on the net to do my own research.

Default oil filters

Something to read. I haven't read it all yet so will leave it up to you all to think on your own;

http://www.pajero.dn.ru/oiltest.html

we've seen this one-the study-;

this seems interesting;

that's enough for this school quarter!

I use Baldwin oil filters on all my mopars big and small.
American made, excellent quality and most importantly they are the only quality $6.00 oil filter I found thru 30 yrs of mopar that do not drain back causing lifter clatter on start up.
Check out their web site.

mancinni sells the righthand oil filter adapter service gaskets for $4.95 p5249320. the large round gasket is easy, its the same one thats under the oilfilter plate on the side of the block the little "ring" that goes under the head of the big bolt is usually what goes. www.manciniracing.com
