Change the bellhousing, flywheel, and k frame and install a stock e58 360 police car engine. Cost less than a grand.

I'm building a 360 .... But I'm running the 6 until It's ready and all the parts are collected for the swap.

When you swap in the 360, the stock K frame is OK, same K for slant and V-8. An added plus for the '66 cars is they use the V-8 dropped drag link.
I think it's better to find a car with a V-8 already in it. The bigger T bars and better brakes will already be there, and if a '67 up the V-8 K frame. My opinion on all the slant six to V-8 conversions: If you don't want to have something a little different, go buy a Chevy. Cecil |

I have allready converted to discs from a 74 duster. and I have an 8 3/4 that will go in later this summer. The 360 will be next year after everything else is done. I'm just checking on /6 combo's that have done well. I might save the 360 for another project (Truck). I like the 6 especially with the offy 2 x 1 intake. If I could get a combo into the 14's and get decent mileage the 360 may go into a Dakota.

Actually, getting a '66 into the 14's is pretty easy. Mine has a ported head with big valves and 340 springs, about 11-1 compression, a Racer Brown 268*/.460" cam, an Offy intake and a 390 Holley. Headers are Cliffords because that's all you can get to fit an early A body.
I have a Midwest 3000 stall converter in a 904 with V-8 guts and a Cheetah manual valve body. Rear is an 8-3/4 with 3.55 gears. Car weighs 3250 w/me in it. Good tune-up in decent air will get you well into the 14's. I have gotten as good as 20 mpg with it too. |

Thanks for the reply. Do Dutra duels have the capability to breathe theyre way into the 14's with a similar combo.

I got a rear disc kit you might consider discounted for chat members. That will get some weight off it and increase your stopping power too.

I have run Dutra Duals on my racecar and into the 14s without problems.
I bet I could get "Dual Dutra Duals" to run into the 12's! http://www.dutra.org/doug/doug-sl6-e...dual-duals.htm DD |

Thanks for the link. Are the duels loud ? I wanna use them over headers. I would like to keep the noise down for cruising. Did you build your own back half of the exhaust?

Doctor Dodge what is your cars combination ? If you don't mind me asking? I like the slant. And I'm trying to decide between that and a 360 I'm building. The 360 could end up in a truck(Dakota). I am on a tight budget and wanna research before spending.....
