Default high output alternator for supercharged cooling

I figured this might be a good place to get an answer.
Thank you in advance.
I have a 72 charger running dual electric fans, lots of MSD and holley blue electric pump.
I need more amps than the 70 amp alternator that I have.
can I wire in a 1 wire alternator without problems?
If so is voltage regulation handled inside alternator?
I am looking for about 120 amps or so.
I have a supercharged 440 engine that needs to be coooooooooooool so any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,Larry

I didn't look closely at the picture, but remember, with a high output alternator, you will need a larger charging wire coming off of the alternator. Odds are, you have a trunk mopunt battery with a 1/0 G wire going from the ALT tot the battery/ignition cutoff.

A few years ago I had the same issue, needing more amperage but it was for my boat. I took the marine alternator to a shop that works on them and they changed the internals to produce 125 amps. They recommended the correct size wiring and I don't think the whole thing cost much. If they can do it for a marine application I'm sure you can find someone to do it for a car.

I am putting the 130 Amp Denso alternator on my Charger. If you do a search you can find out more information on the conversion, but it is externally regulated.

The problem with getting the alt modified is that if it fails, you have to wait while yours is rebuilt. The GM 1 wire unit is a quick swap with most any parts house. An alternative to the GM 1 wire is the newer ND MOPAR alternators that are on the Dodge Rams and in the Jeeps. They will use the exisiting voltage regulator and produce the 120 - 140 AMP power range.

The 130 Amp Denso is the new Dodge truck alternator. I got if off E-Bay from a place that does Conversion vehicles. It was $75.
The main reason I wanted the ND alternator is it is rated for 14,000 RPM at the alternator which works out pretty good when you have an engine that will turn 7,000+ RPM

Yes, I also got the new 130 Amp unit from ebay. It's been sitting on my garage floor for the last 5 months... lol

I also bought a rebuilt 100 Amp unit for a Jeep, on Ebay. It was like $30. The 100 Amp will be easier for me to wire in, as it still uses the standard terminal lugs for the field wires.

Now, I just have to decide which to use and which to have as a spare...
