throttle rod problem PLEASE HELP!
HI. i'm trying to get recently aquired car ('68 cuda) road worthy after brief sit.i went to make sure throttle rod was adjusted correctly and noticed that in the relaxed position, throttle lever on trans. is practally in the back position.it will move forward, but returns back when released(possibly from the weight of the throttle rod assembly) the trans. was rebuilt before i got car, but i doubt any performance altercations were performed( possibly even a amatuer/ home rebuild)any ideas? spring in valve body? it"s a 904 . THANX for any help. BRIAN

Is the spring on the front/top of the rod that connects to the carb? That one should pull it forwards.

The position must be correct for trans life and safty reasons. I have some people put in screws to lock the kick down slot where another carb was added, if somthing in the trans failed it could hold the carb at WOT, dig out some old mags have a lool at the factoryt setups
