Help with noise
I need some help finding where a noise is coming from and what to do about it. I have a 72 roadrunner and it started making a clunking noise somewhere in the rear end. It is really noticable while turning left. It also comes and goes, it's never constant.
Thanks |

Sounds like the spider gears are worn and about to go. I'd get some new gears or find me a sure grip real soon.

The 8-3/4 742 in my car hauler will do a spool imitation every once in a while accompanied by some weird noises but only when throttle is applied, even very light throttle. Likes to do this trick when backing the trailer into a tight spot and have the steering at full lock. It's a long bed ext cab that can't get turned around in a 40 acre field to begin with. Check and see if it is a limited slip, may just need some additive. Definitely needs to be pinned down.

Those year sure grips, are noisy for sure. Some noise is expected. It shouldnt make much noise going staright, or turn at higher speeds.
