Default Front end shimmy(long)

OK here the deal. I've been running this thing for about 4 yrs and it's always had a little shimmy in it on a right hand off camber turn. I never really let it concern me though. I changed brake pads a few weeks ago and the thing was undriveable (like a bad caster on shopping cart), But if I put a little pressure on brakes it went away. So I pulled Wheels back off and found a cracked retainer for the caliper. I replaced all of them and it took care of 75% of prob but it's still there some. Still worse than when I started. Any ideas what's causing this prob. Buy the way I have 73 model disk brakes on 71 Demon.

Do the bearings fit the spindles properly? Strut rod bushing? Idler arm?

I thought of all those but why would it stop when I apply brakes. I don't feel any slop in wheels at all indicating bearings. I can't figure why it got worse when I changed pads

It could stop when you apply the brakes, as all the pressure is now in one direction. Taking up whatever the slack is.

I had a old Firebird years ago that done that, seemed to shake you like a bunch of little pot holes, only the shake was side ways, not up and down.........It done it more at lower speeds like wehn braking or truning.......it was the tie rod ends was completly gone. Check them!

What 6 pakin said also. To me a shimmy is side to side as in worn tierod ends and other bushings. A bounce is up and down as in worn shocks.

Do a lot of wiggling of all the parts side to side and front to rear like for a-arm bushings , and up and down for the balljoints and everything you can see to wiggle.

I will say that front end was rebuilt when the thing went back together in 99. That's not saying something couldn't be bad though. Just became really bad when I change pads??

I had a ball joint go bad in 6 months. Back in about '99. It was clunking tho. This one has lasted this long.
