Default Mickey T Indy Profiles SS

Anyone ever run the Indy Profile SS Street/Strip tires? I wanted to get slicks, but driving them on the road scares me.

The tire guys recommended the Indy Profile SS tire because at this time i am cursed with 14" rims. They say you can heat them up and they hook pretty good. Mickey's website states the same.

Any feedback on how they perform at the strip is appreciated.

i wasn't there so take it for what its worth but, I have a friend that runs them on his 340 swinger, mild motor with eddy heads, said he smoked them for 20-30 feet off the line. I do know for a fact that they are one of the heaviest tires made, real dense hard rubber. look into BFG drag radials, they have a softer compound and from what i've read ride pretty good as well. Hot rod or car craft did a little tire experiment with them against m/t et streets and another "cheater" slick. The BFG's 60 footers weren't too far off the "cheater" slicks (within a tenth).

A friend of mine had a set on a real built 340 Duster. They hooked ok for what he had for a suspension set up. His trouble was his set up not the tires by the way not to mention he can't drive a stick for sh@#.

He thinks you have to slam the handle or try to jerk it out of the floor. More than not he always misses third and has torn up two radios and his hand more than once. One night he missed and I swore it wwas broke it swelled up so much.

i seriously DO NOT recommend these tires, not only do they NOT hookup worth a damm, be they also ride like krap. you'll feel every bump and they really pull the car if the road has tire grooves. i had mickeys on my car and hated them, never ever bias-ply tires again. i can't argue that they don't look cool but i can't recommend them. i hope i haven't upset anybody who likes these pieces of krap.

my freind mark had some on a 68 charger r\t 440 auto. man, those things would leave black stripes for 3 blocks. once he heated them up, they would hook pretty good. but he really had to get them smoking to heat them up.

well, that shoots that idea down!

i had drag radials on it and jsut took them off. they hooked good but the profile was way too short with my 4.56 final gear.

thanks for all the insight guys!

If you don't want drag radials, this might be a better alternative,

Mickey Thompson® Sportsman Pro®
Nylon, black, tubetype 8/32 tread depth

DRAG SLICK COMPOUND
D.O.T. APPROVED WRINKLE WALL CONSTRUCTION

I've been considering these for my next "real" street tire purchase.

What kind of wheels are you running now? Are they expensive billets or ?? Considering the high price of the Mickey Thompsons, it would seem you could also afford the 15" wheels. Just my two cents.

If you have a Discount Tire store near by take a look at the Hoisser tire.
