BME rods........
Saw a set of BME rods for 440 on eBay......stock specs, 50 passes, I think it was at $150. Would these hold up in a 450-500ish HP street car? Can any local shop check these rods, or do they have to go back to BME? Excuse the dumb questions......kinda new to aluminum rods.
Thanks, Jim. |

Do not run aluminum rods in your street engine! They are designed for drag use only. I have a set of BME rods in my engine and BME tells me I should get 600 1/4 mile passes out of these rods my machinest tells me no way 150 passes and it should be torn down.

Aluminum rods have a lot of strectch and give that's why they dont last. They stretch instead of break. Also if you bang one together and nick it, then you have to throw it away. Can you be sure of what your getting off of E Bay in this instance. You have to ask why aint they using them.

Turn around and RUN...they're not for your application...although they do make excellent clocks..if your in the clock business
