The two that I own now. '74 Challenger Rallye 360 that is black on black on black with black strobe stripes and is a factory deal. It currently has 34,### on it. The second one is a '69-1/2 6bbl RR that is Platinum silver with a deluxe bucket seat interior that is done in platinum. Console automatic, ps, no pb, tach and radio delete.

I once had (and was stupid enough to let go of) a 1970 Challenger R/T 440-6 car. It did not have the original engine (had a 273 in it when I got it). Someone had also painted yellow over the factory plum crazy. It was also going to need subframe connectors (stress cracks in the firewall).

I lost the will to work on it, after I wrecked my other '70 Challenger. I look back and feel very STUPID for that mistake.

Cool

six pack,
do you have pics? what's the history on the car?
I forgot to add that my Dad once had a '67 Coronet 500 convert that was a Hemi car. I was only about 4 when he fixed it up (he likes fixing wrecked cars) so I only have pics of it but none showing the engine or emblems. He eventually sold it to my uncle who needed a car (he was a state trooper at the time) and then it was sold again after he was done with it.

When I was a kid, a local towing service brought in a very decent 1961 DeSoto 4 door hard top, black. This car's badge of honor was that it was stolen in Pennsylvania, and none of the late 70's GM cop cars that Pennsylvania had could keep up with it. It got down into West Virginia where it ran out of gas. Unfortunetly, the guy who owned the towing service was a clown and scrapped it later. Despite many offers to buy it. Personally, I own a 77 Dodge crew cab truck with an original 440. It's supposed to be one of 127 made that year, but I haven't been able to verify that yet.

1966 Coronet 4door Hemi car. Floor mats, automatic, very Spartan interior. There were 2 made. Both of them ended up here in Wichita. One of them was always here, a red one. It was special ordered by a local dyno-tuner-legend kind of guy. The other is a white one that a friend of mine bought from somebody who worked at Boeing. I was asked by Tony DeFeo from the MuscleCars magazine to get pictures and stories on them both. The red one was in pieces but the white one drove real well. The owners and I submitted the stuff to Tony (Tony died a couple of years later -- great guy and super Mopar enthusiast) for the MuscleCars magazine. The next thing we knew our pics and story were in the brand new High Performance MoPar magazine debut edition in the fall of 1986! The white one was subsequently purchased by Don Garlits for his museum. The red one sold soon after also, seems like to the same place. These are considered some of the rarest Hemi's ever made.

Great looking ride! What's the history. Two other cars that I just remembered. The first is a '66 Hemi Satellite convertible. Is white with a turquiose interior. Auto if I remember right, had only 42,### on it when I saw it in '82 or 3. The other one was parked beside it, a factory steel front end '64 Hemi Belvedere. Supposedly one of 8, probably still has not seen the light of day in the past 18 years.

One guy I used to work with had a 71 Cuda-383 3 spd convertible. Great shape. He about hit the floor when I told him it was 1 of 8 with that combo. The other was 1 of 0 made 1972 440-6 road runner. The car was in rough shape and needs to be completely redone, but it was solid. I hope I get to see it when he's done. It's gonna be awesome.

I'll make one more entry here, besides my ol 70 6-barrel, 4 speed Roadrunner, and my previously mentioned elswhere in the forum, 77 Dodge, original 440 truck, I had a 64 Valiant V-200 4 speed, six cylinder, convertible. It was supposed to be one of very very few, supposedly less then 12 made, according to the guy who sold it to me. It was also an all Turquoise colored car, inside and out, also unusual. I do know any early A body six cylinder 4 speed, is rare, and the convertibles even more so. Wish I still had it, but when the babies came, something had to go,lol!

Unhappy

In 1988, I was looking for a Superbird, and missed out on a 78,000 mile Limelight car her in Oklahoma City for $8,500 (yes, that's right!). Rumors of another Limelight 'Bird in New Mexico led me to call a man in Farmington, NM. He had just sold that car a day before for $9,000 (that's right, too!) and had just completed a ground-up on it. Needing money for major surgery, he asked if I would be interested in a '69 440 Dart GTS. Having owned 12 A-bodies by that time, and realizing what he had, I said yes. This was also a ground-up resto on a rust-free Utah car that was documented through its' seven previous owners! I sent a deposit, and waited for delivery, having bought the car by seeing two pictures of it. After waiting two months, I was ready to kill him if the car wasn't coming. Two days later, he dollies the car to OKC. It needed minor finishing and detailing, and the radiator recored. This was a bronze metallic car w/black top & interior, 440 auto, 3.91 SG, and, check this, factory front disc brakes, the only documented as such. 440 Darts could NOT be ordered with the following: 4-spd, a/c, ps, pb, discs, convertible. I drove the car occasionally for the next 8 months. Getting orders to Germany, I tried in vain to find a museum to store the car in for the next three years. In March 1989, I advertised the car in HMN, and eventually a man in Connecticut bought it. He sold it three years later to another collector there. He put drums on the front, insisting the car never had discs. I spoke with the man who owned the car back in 1971, and he remembered distinctly the car had discs back then. The car showed up in one of the Mopar mags in 1995, with drums and CT plates on it. What a car to drive!!!

I agree with Patrick66 , I would love to have a 69 440 m-code Dart all original. Then I would work it over and go run the Pure Stock Drags and kick butt!

A friend of mine just sneeked a 66Coronet500 4 speed car. Nothing too unsuaull other than stories of it being a Hemi car(it has always been a drag car). There was no real way to prove it was a hemi car because the original Kmember and the whole front end had been modified beyone recognition...BUT the rear spring perches have the Torque boxes on the,,,Rear toque boxes=Hemi car....Well that and the ultra rare Dana rear end...Sometime I will post pics of the car....nothing but awsome...

Jumping back to the white Superbird. I remember seeing that car at a show in Red Deer a few years back. I also remember a extremely low mileage '70 'Cuda [Plumcrazy] at the World of Wheels in Calgary. I think that was 2 or three years ago. Sorry no pictures, wasn't into computers back then.
I will be roaming the circuit this summer with a digital camera in hand.

That would hafta be a buddy o mines 70 GTX 6-pack 4spd. car. Supposedly like 379 built. Or my 78 Ply. Super Coupe 461(?) built and mines got T-tops, that's gotta make it rarer. I've seen rarer still but don't know the owners.

I just picked up a 71 Charger SE originally a 383 mag now a 440 car. Other than the engine it is all original, Triple Green, Pistol Grip 4 speed, original paint, Cloth Bench seat interior. Still has all the SE trim in the trunk. Looks like it is only one or two years old. Also has PS, PDB, A/C and original rally wheels, 323 gears. The original engine is on a stand in my garage complete from air cleaner to starter. I read somewhere that there were only 195 se's built with 4 speeds. I have only heard of 2 others like it one was on e-bay tor red another was a 440. It is one fun car to drive. Larry

Most unique Mopar I ever saw on the streets was my old ride, a 1972 Dodge Polara Custom 2 door. She had a 360 with an A-727, but nothing else special that I know if. Aside from an engine rebuild, new headliner, viynl top, and new tranny, the car was completly original. We bought it from the original owner, and the car was in great shape. I'd never ever seen another car like it, ever. Now I drive a plain jane '95 Neon. I want my old car back!
