Question

I was wondering if anyone could give a list of good part suppliers for performance upgrades ( catalogs, web pages, etc...) as well as list a few good upgrades to start off with...i am considering a cat back ( $489 ) to start off with...any other suggestions for first mod?

Thanks

These are the ones you need. I like Howell and have never had a problem with them. Both carry parts for the 2000.

First off, I would stay away from the cat back until later down the road. Their are better HP/$$ mods out. First, I would check into a cold air intake. Second, an underdrive pulley. After that, then I might consider a catback. If the 2000 exhaust is anything like the pre2000 DOHC cars, it is already a very nice setup.

You can also check here, if you havn't already: www.neons.org - I'm sure someone can give you a better list of mods than I can.

As Tim said, go with a cold air intake to start with. On a Neon your not going to get 20-30 HP gains no matter what you bolt on...well, except for NOS,turbo,etc...
Most increases are in the 2-10 HP range.

On the 95-99 Neons the exhaust was VERY good, the only problem being the SOHC muffler (single outlet).

I have not heard much on the 2000 as to what works best on the exhaust side.

Most of the guy's with 95-99 models have gone with intake system, pulley's, headers, modified throttle body's, porting work, cam's, adjustable cam gears, etc...

Good luck,
Jeff C.

Almost forgot...if your looking for an inexpensive way to lower your car a couple of inches, and firm up the handling, go with a set of stock 95-99 ACR or R/T springs.

You can find them used for under $50.00.

I have a set off of my old R/T, only used for 15K miles if interested.

Later,
Jeff C.
