Default 413 to a 727 ?

Hi mopar mechanics,
Does anyone know if a 1965, 413 will bolt up to a 1978 big block 727? I'am interested in any experience you might have.
Thanks, 37 Dodge

In a word.......YES !

BUT get rid of those weights on the converter that are there for that BB cast-crank motor.

I think Bagherra has a 413 for sale that is comming out of his RoadRunner. Might check parts for sale or try to contact him on here.

Wink

The '65 413 will definatly bolt up, as Mr. Fiber glass said, the balance weights must be removed (if it came from a cast crank engine) Check the Harmonic balancer from the 400 or 440 it came from if it has a counterweight it is externally balanced. If it is some of the balance weights must be removed, not all of them! Even internally balanced engines have some weights on the converter. Try to find a converter from an internally balanced engine and compare it to yours, then just remove the extra weights (probably the larger ones) or use the internally balanced convertor. A converter rebuilder could tell which ones need to go (if you have a rebuilder near you) Good luck

Question 413?

The 413 will bolt to the block, but be advised that if your 413 is a truck engine, it has an extended crankshaft. That will prevent the proper alignment for the torque converter. If you have a car engine, no problem.

Just thinking out loud.

Thumbs up

Hi Guy's,
Thanks a whole bunch for the info on the converter. I wasn't sure so I had to ask, (experience maybe the best teacher, however I prefer to use other peoples experience ) it usually is less expensive too. I really appreciate this input. By the way, this engine is comming from Bagherra's RR . I may just buy a new converter anyway. Thanks again Rich
