Thinking About a 2003 Cummins

I am seriously considering buying a 2003 turbo diesel 2500 4x2 automatic SLT. I know very little about diesels though. Everyone I know that has a cummins just swears by them.

What kind of gas mileage do they get and what kind of maintance will they require over the years?

How much are oil changes and how long can you go before having the oil changed?
