MSD and Orange ECU
I picked up a MSD 6 from a car show on the weekend and I have a simple question. Looking at the wiring diagram, if I wanted to keep my orange box as a backup system in case something happens to the MSD would I have to do the following.
1. Get another distributor connector and use that to hook up to my distributor so I could just plug in the MSD and if I want the orange box I just have to unplug and hook the distributor to the orig. connector. 2. Just leave the orange 4pin ECU wire system unplugged while I am using the MSD. 3. Would I have to change any wires on the coil if I was to change the system over? It looks like I could just add the two wires from the MSD and as long as the orange ECU is disconnected I would have no problems. 4. Can I run the system from the alt. instead of the battery or am I better off to run a heavy gauge wire right to the battery? The altenator would be easier since it is right there. 5. Do I need to put in a fuseable link when running to the battery so I can disconnect it when I want to run the orange box or is that over kill? |
