Default Bigger cam?

Does anyone have experience with a similar setup for what kind of improvement I might expect from changing to the MP 590 cam?

Do you know what your head flow figures are and at what lift? That would certainly help in getting a cam to fit your engine.

I don't think you'll get .25 from it though, maybe .10 or .15 in the quarter.

What does your converter stall to? And what kind is it?

in the 1/8th mile, wouldn't the low end be very crutial? in that case, wouldn't you wanna go with a relatively smaller cam for a much better low end? unless your gears are really tall and MADE for high RPM 1/8th mile...

Hey Red
The cam you speak of will make more Top end power, I run the same cam in a all street/steel Big Block Duster 440. Just wondering what your 60 ft times were should be around 1.6's or so? I tell ya, My car went a best of 8.30's flat with a 3000 GER converter. I thought it was pretty respectable for a 3500 lb car and driver running 3.91's with 30 inch tall slicks, which was killing my 60 ft times. I saved and spent the money for a 4000 stall ATI converter. The car pulls like never before, This car will NOT hook on the street. Mopar says that the .528 solid should run 11.5 sec in a 1/4 mile, that should be better than 7.0's in the 1/8th right? What do you launch the car at? Im just tring to hit High 7's in the 1/8th while still streeting the car, and driving to and from the track which is about 60 miles on way. Give us some more detail about your setup, should be able to pull .25 out of your current setup.

I'm not sure of the flow numbers of the heads. They came off of a circle track car and seem to be heavily ported.

The converter is from Edge Racing. He designed it to stall at 4200, but it seems to be stalling at 3500.

The 60 ft times average at 1.62.

The tires are 28x9 MT's.

Well, you got enough gear, it certainly wouldn't hurt. If you had more info though a better grind could probably be selected. You may want to look at Hughes or Ultradyne or even Racer Brown though. Don't forget to check your piston to valve clearance and install the proper valve springs.

Im really suprised that your running that fast with that 3500 converter. Its important to get the car up and moving in the 1/8th mile. Thats were the converter will come in play. Select a to big of cam and the 60 ft hurts again. I would consult Racer Brown, or Hughes for the fast rate of lift solids, or maybe go solid roller. I would be lookin for more converter though.
