I have never messed with a SOHC 4 valve/cyl. engine. I own a DOHC R/T and have messed around a bunch with my SOHC 2.2/2.5L cars but I was asked this question by a friend and I couldn't answer exacty. This is driving me nuts now and I need to know. I know there is a seperate lobe for each valve on the DOHC 4 valve engines and the 2.2/2.5L but is there a seperate lobe for each valve in the SOHC 4 valver? Or is there a common follower that works both valves from a common lobe? Can any one help me out? I know it's a simple question but I don't have one to look at here. Any help would be appreciated.

Shelby there is a common rocker for each lobe to actuate the pair of valves in a single overhead cam engine.

Was going to reply earlier but I could never remember to check it out at work. Tore one apart today and on the single overhead cam engine the intake valves each have there own lobe and rocker arm. On the exhaust side there is one lobe and both valves are opened with a single "Y" type rocker arm.
