slant six manual behind a V8?
In my never-ending quest to bankrupt myself and get my wife to divorce me I was looking at another Mopar. Its a '69 Satelite but it has a slant 6 and 3 speed manual trans.
Now I have a 318 which will become spare in the near future so theres a plan coming together here. I think you can all guess whats coming next... Will the 3 speed manual box work behind a 318 or is the bolt pattern different? |

Normally, I would tell you to boldy go ahead. The worst that could happen would be that you would have to go to the salvage yard and pick up a new bell housing or transmission. Then I looked at your location old chap and thought better of the suggestion. I don't know how plentiful Mopar parts are over there. The newer aluminum (al you minium) bell housings had a dual pattern on them and they should work for both applications. The 3 spd that we run in the circle track car fits right where the 4 spd bolts up without any problems. So from my experience, it looks like it should work. Sorry for the ribbing on the language barrier stuff.

cheers...
The 318 would be coming from a '68 car and the 3 speed is a '69 Dunno if that makes any difference. The 318 currently has a TF727A behind it, rather than a 4 speed, so I guess I need the manual flywheel as well. Any other differences between manual / auto on a small block? Mopar parts over here are as good as the UPS service from the USA makes them... But, theres a couple of guys selling Mopar parts over here, but a lot of it is used stock and its a case of what they have got in. I needed a windshield for my Fury and it have to get shipped, and by the time it got here it cost £500 with shipping and tax, thats like $700. For a windshield. For the WRONG windshield. Luckily the whole windshield thing is not coming out of my pocket, but I've been driving with a cracked glass for a month now. So buying bellhousings or transmissions across "the pond" to see if they fit is a no chance! toodle pip & chin chin old chap. : |

Hello
Just make sure the 318 engine has a pilot hole and bushing before putting it togather. The 3 speed will be planty tough enough for 318 high Horses abuse.
