replacing main caps with a girdle
hi everyone
can anyone help me with finding a manufacturer that makes a girdle to replace the main caps on an original hemi block? ive been looking online (mostly google searches) for a few weeks now, and all i can find are "girdles" that bolt onto the main caps on fords. yes i understand that they need alot more help downstairs than any mopar especially a hemi, but im building a new engine, that has been windowed and repaired, and im just looking for that extra security ill get knowing that ive got a girdle holding it all together ive seen them available (years ago in a magazine) for RB's and HEMI's but i cant find anything now that im getting ready to build. thanks alot! |

Never seen one. Besides Hemi's are cross bolted at the blocks sides. No need for a griddle. It's as strong as it can get when it's cross bolted. You can even get cross bolted 440 blocks now.

I know a guy who has them made for his own stuff. The plate itself is no too expensive but combined with the work required to properly install it starts to get pretty expensive. Somewhere around $400-$500. Your looking at the price of the plate, extra long main studs, cutting the tops of the main caps, four or so hollow dowl pins, milling the pan rail and line-honing.
