Guam. The newer ones, 99 and up, will run mid to low 16's in the quarter with the sohc motor. I've not seen one with the 150hp motor run yet. Haven't ever run my 96 coupe, but I would guess high 15's with the few mods I've made.

Quickest E.T. that I have heard of was made by Len Ayala. His Hahn turbo equipped Neon has dipped into the 10's.

The quickest "all motor" Neon I have heard of is owned by Scott Mohler, 12.82 @103.81.

Typical Neon's run very high 15's to mid 16's with a 5 speed.

Most with bolt on modification's are running high 14's to low 15's.

Of course track location, temp, driver, etc...
can, and will affect times.

Jeff C.

Cool

Mine runs around a 15.1 or better with all bolt-ons and street tires. Most modded 5 speeds are in this area or in the mid/high 14's. These cars have full interior also. There are quite a few 13 second NO2 cars that are still full interior.
Lens turbo is running 10.8ish or quicker now. Darrel Cox ran a NO2 Neon last year and was hitting 10.3's last time I heard about it. These two cars are far from stock however.

Mid/high 14's are easly reached with the right combo of boltons. Low 15's are probably more the norm for the majority of modded neons.

Tim,

What kind of bolt on's do you have on your car?

Do you autoX it as well?

My buddy (who would be part of this if he was advanced enough to get a computer) has 2 neons. His 96 sohc ran a best of 15.1 with a few bolt-ons. He also has a 98 ACR that ran a best of 13.12 with a little bit of NOS and a few bolt-ons. He fried that motor though and is rebuilding it. Got new forged pistons, bored it out (now its a 2.4 I think), and put a two stage fogger system on it. He's expectin to run in the 11's (stock interior still also)

So far, I have the Mopar computer, Iceman Intake, 56mm TB, UDP, pacesetter header, catco cat, and I smoothed the inside of my intake out. Those are all the go fast goodies. I've also added a B&M shifter, a guage pod, plug wires, and motor mount inserts. I am still on the stock cat back and muffler.

I think my car should actually be quicker. Some DOHCs run better than others due to poor cam centerlining at the factory. I have seen upwards of 10hp difference in two identical cars. When I pull the head off to fix my headgasket (whenever it decided to go out) I will be blueprinting the cams also.

I don't do any autoXing. I work on the weekends and really have no time with a fulltime job and a full load in school. I just do barely manage to make it to the strip every once and a while.

So far I have a completely stock '96 SOHC automatic; the three speed really isn't enough for this car performance wise. Been at the strip once with it and it run 18.2 at 79.5 mph.
