Question Will Dodge be upgrading transmissions?

I have read that chevy trucks are now available with allison transmissions that are supposed to be almost indestructible. Does Dodge plan to make any changes in the near future? I am seriously considering a new ram 2500 ho diesel with the automatic transmission in the next year or so. I would wait if they were going to make upgrades.

Any opinions on how well this transmission performs behind the diesel.

Default 48 RE

My '03 HO has the 48RE. Nice firm shifts, very happy with it. Drove from Atlanta to Pensacola Fl Saturday night (6 hrs) with a 3500 lb car trailer & drove back Sunday with a 4000 lb Porsche 928 on the trailer. Got 17.9 mpg going down & 14.8 coming back with the car. Ran 70 mph coming back with A/C on & stayed in overdrive the whole time. Did not downshift once with 7500 lb on the back. Very pleased. In fact, we outpulled an UNLOADED F-150 Supercrew on one of the long uphill climbs south of Atlanta. I rolled it on at 65 mph, at the top of the hill I was running 90 with the Furd about 3 car lengths behind me. (Backed off real quick, though.)

badger.
