Question

Anyone else get into this with a stock engine controller? Was running along with a turbo audvo some salesman was trying to foist off on an unsuspecting couple and ran it a tad further past 7k than I meant to. Pretty much killed the engine completely for a split sec and locked up the front drive tire. Looks like it might have been a tad hard on the front mount, but other than that runs as good as ever...

I used to own a Neon R/T, before my Dakota R/T, and that same thing happened to me. But I missed a shift going to third, and over-revved it, got it into third, the tires locked for a sec, and then it was fine. The the Alternator light came on, and my power steering went out. Turns out I threw both belts. This happened a second time like 2 months later. Same identical circumstances, only this time both belts stayed on; I just blew the alternator. Dropped it off at the dealer, and they had it fixed in a day. Just check your belts, and if they're o.k., then don't worry.

You should be ok as long as it doesn't become a habit I have hit the limiter on my Mopar PCM at ~7500 with no problems. I have also shifted close to that and thrown the alternator belt

Get either the Mopar Performance,or the AFX bobble strut, and also the MP or AFX engine mount. That will reduce your missed shifts a lot,and reduce if not completely eliminate wheel hop.
Also,Mopar Performance has just released a short throw shifter assembly for the neon that looks exellent. Check out the neon section in the 2001 Mopar Performance parts catalog.

If you're looking to be rid of that ever troublesome rev limiter get an AFX neon engine computer. They give a fairly large hp,and torque boost over the stock computer.

Believe it or not yes, they give a higher hp and torque boost the Mopar Performance neon engine computers do. Also, there's no rev limiter on them
