I know you can swap them on the pre-magnum engines but, how about magnum engines?
Thanks in advance, Jim |

Is there any difference between the 318 and 360 Magnum heads? I thought they were the same.

Ok, after a bit of research there is a difference in the heads. 318 Magnum heads have the foundry mark "NH", the 360 Magnums have "CF". The only other difference I can verify is the valve sizes. Intake: 4.666mm (1.915in) Exhaust: 41.250mm (1.624in) for the 318, and Intake: 47.752mm (1.88in) Exhaust: 41.072mm (1.617in) for the 360. I assume since the casting is different that the ports are also different between the two.

Elwenil:
I saw those same valve sizes listed in the service manual for my 98 ram. I thought it was a misprint. I had been told that the heads were the same between the 318 and 360. If the valve sizes are what you said and what are listed in my service manual the 318 head has the bigger valves. It doesn't make good senses. Hopefully someone out there has had both heads in there hand at one time, and can give us the strait story. |
