Default 408 Pistons-which ones ?

I would like to hear some input on a good piston to use on my 408 ? I will be using Eddy heads, roller rockers solid cam, daily driver-racer, and occasional strip use. Can the KB 107's be used ?

Those KB pistons?............the hyper type?......they are a very brittle piston.

You get into any kind of detonation and they can come apart.

Now THAT is not good for the shortblock OR the cyl heads.

Why not call Ron at Diamond and talk to him, he'll give you the straight up skinny and all the tech info you could ever want.

You can order direct or through me if you should decide on Diamond's, I can usually give you a better price than the factory direct and they will drop ship.

Can't hurt to talk to an expert, and Ron's also a member here and will be happy to hear from you.

if you are buying a complete kit, i noticed most of the mopar suppliers go with forged pistons, so that would probably be a better choice. they're stronger and can take alot more abuse. Mancini kits come w/Diamond pistons, Aerohead kits come w/Wiseco pistons, and Compu-Flow and MuscleMotors go w/Ross pistons. personally i like the Explodo pistons that are imported from Uganda.

I was looking @ the diamonds on Mancini Racing , but it looks like too much comp. for me. Think Ill call for the low down. By the way, if you special order pistons do they charge alot more ?

Just call Ron and ask him about your specific application, don't look in a catalog you won't get the whole picture.

" Hay cuda........what are the basic pricing on those Diamond pistons? "

A set of Diamonds will run you about $700.00 with a file fit ring pack. This is about $200 more than a set of TRW slugs with drop in rings but considering the quality difference, weight savings and the quality of the rings it's a no brainer on a performance build up.

"a small chute for a dragster ?"

Deist Chutes are rated by weight and MPH. Call me with the specs and I'll price the correct chute for your application. Deist Products are made entirely in the USA...unlike their ever so popular competitors.

" 3" 5 point harness"

They vary by hardware and buckle type but a basic set of Deist belts start at about $70.00 and go to about $85 depending on the mounting and shoulder strap configuration.

Did you know that Simpson is no longer rewebbing belts......you have to buy a new set every 2 years.

Anyone know the various compression heights of the Diamond, SpeedPro(TRW) or Arias pistons for the 408?

Anyone know the lowest compression height 4.010 piston available from anyone?

Ive checked most of the makes out and Diamond make a -20cc dish piston that will lower the final CR for you. Others are between -15cc to -17cc. GL
