Default sloppy slap stick

I have a slap stick in my 70 cuda., i put a fwd pattern manual valve body in the tranny so i could keep the slap stick , i like the original look. However.... it keeps going into neutral when i shift to 3rd. only does it when im really in it and shifting hard. id like to keep my slap stick is there any adjustments, rebuild kits , or someone who sells rebuilt slap stick units??

thanks

Call Tom at R/T specailties. he sell bushing kits for slap stick but I only saw 71 and up slapsticks listed on the site. He might be able to help you.

Make sure the spring isnt sticking which pushes/pulls the locking mechnism down, if its worn out, and you dont care to improvise take a square file and notch the shifting plate between neutral and 3rd, it does work. The shifter I done this was no good to began with. i wouldnt do this to a nice slap shifter.

great thanks,, i think all slap sticks are the same internally, i know the 71's had a "T" handle instead of a ball like my 70..other than that i think they are the same
