Help how the headers fit

I bought some headers for a 318 (Hedman hedders #78050)
and it seems that they're supposed to have the steering arm go through it. Is the steering arm supposed to go through it?

If your talking about going in an A-body-small block, in a word, yes, almost every set of headers made for small block mopars have a tube or two under the center link. You'll have to remove the center link to install the tube on the drivers side and then replace the center link with it going in between the tubes. The tubes hang way low to the road so you'll have to be careful of speed bumps and pothoals and dips in the road from now on. The only way to get around this is to get some shorty headers that exit behind the center link, or get TTI headers, as they are made to exit behind the center link giving you excellent ground clearance. TTI headers cost around $495 a set but in my opinion they are worth the expense.

Good Luck.

Default Where the headers meet the road...

I chomped up my Heddmans in the 1st thousand miles after getting my ride together. Nice big FLAT spot!!!

I had 14 inch rims....Now I run 15 inch rims and rarely ever make contact.

I some of that 2 part "Cold Weld" and a sheetmetal screw into the hole in the tube.

But, thats why they are $150 smacks.

One day...tti's....

Hey if you havent bought them yet you may try spitfire headers. I hear harold is getting hard to contact though.
I got a set back in the spring and put them om my swinger. I love them better plug access than with manifolds and lots of ground clearance.

I have the headmans on my scamp and I hate them. The scamp also sits 3-4 inches higher than the dart. They still drag.

But some people love them just thought Id give you another option.
