I've personally seen the fine spline abused behind a 400 and a 440 by the same driver. Ruthless. And they lived. Want the extra insurance? Find a hemi crashbox.

I wouldn't worry about the tranny, you do need to get a SFI bellhousing, and flywheel though.

When I was younger and very stupid, I would spin it to 6500 and leave the gas pedal on the floor and shift quicker than quick. When it came time to depress the clutch and ingauge the tranny, it was done by a simple shift of the foot to the left allowing the pedal to slam up. It still lives to day, some 15 years later.

*I do NOT recomend this! This statement was just a testament.

My buddy has a tubbed 69 Cuda with a very strong 340. He has pounded the living you-know-what out of the thing, he speed shifts more often than not. No troubles whatsoever after years of abuse.
The same guy had a built 440 Satelleite he street raced. He would shift the way you or I shift on a dirt bike we don't own....

From personal experience, I would say no troubles whatsoever.

He also owned a new Hemi trans with Liberty racing gears, never even installed it in anything he owned, he liked the 23 spline tranny so much.
