Help Rear end 8-3/4

Is there a diffence in thrust block size between '66 3.23 (B-body) suregrip and an early 70's 3.55 (E-body)? I just installed a 3.55 set up from an early 70's e_body, into my '66 B-body. I've adjusted to the max, but can't get rid of the axle end play. Both axles are properly seated, and all new bearings, seals and retainers are properly installed.

Should keep turning in clockwise to get rid of the endplay. I thought that the later borg&warner suregrips, didnt use a thrust block. I still should work. They can be a pain. Make sure you have the axle with the adjuster on the passenger side. Bolt the drive side up tight and then install the other axle and start adjusting the endplay out of it. When you fill no endplay back it off just a tad, where you can feel very little movment. never used a tool yet, and never had a problem. Take it for a spin, some quick 180's or curvy road and check it again, remeber it wont get any tighter, just loosen up. If you havent had it togahter or bought in i pieces you may have the wrong axles, think they measure 29 31/32 (Ebody axle) inch, maybe somone here can help out more there.

Is that the block that needs the 2 buttons on the ends where the axles butt up against when you adjust it? If so. Are the buttons there?

How much end-play do you have? is this the clutch or cone sure grip?

sounds to me like you have the early SG in it and are missing one or both of the axel thrust-blocks on the inside of that suregrip.

The thrust blocks he is refering to is the buttons you speak of correct? Give us some more detail, about what the case # is, what housing is being used and what car its going under.
