Default 340 oil pan on a 360

Does anyone make an insert or thicker seal so I can run a 340 oil pan on my 360? The rear main bearing cap sealing surface is about 1/4" smaller on a 360 than on a 340 and I need to fill the void.

I believe the two motors differ in the size of the crank journals. The 318/340 being the same.and the 360 different.(larger?) So the pans wont interchange. A 360 pan should be as close as your local salvage yard.-----Good Luck.

The main bearing size is bigger but the sealing surface is smaller. I have a $450 milodon circle track oil pan for a 340 and I do not want to buy another.

The guys are right, never seen or heard of a spacer to adapt a 318/340 oil pan for a 360 which does have diff rear pan seals.

You'll have to get another pan. The front seals are the same and the back ones are much bigger due to crank journal sizes and the rear main cap size.

So much misinformation about. The 318/340 rear main cap oil pan sealing surface is larger than the 360 and all Magnum rear main cap oil pan sealing surfaces. You can do what I did though, I bought a new 360 pan from MP (they are cheap) and hacked off the sump, cut the sump off the good 340 pan and welded it on to the 360 pan. Made it a tad deeper and some other minor improvements while I was at it. Way cheaper than buying another high dollar pan.

skankweirdall, I am either going to build a spacer or cut the rear section out of an old 360 pan and tig it in. More likely I will build a spacer as I may use the pan on a 340 in the future. I was hoping some gasket company made an extra thick rear pan seal for this, but I guess not.
