Default Holley regulator is crap!

I've been running a Carter mechanical race pump (7.5 psi) with no regulator until tonight. Pre-regulator the pressure sometimes crept up to 9 psi, but never overran the seats. Tonight I install a new Holley hi-pressure diaphram and spring into the regulator and put it on the car. Pump the gas and go to fire it, it cranks and cranks and finally fires but is blubbering. I get out and hear something like running fluid. Guess what, it was gas overrunning the seats. I have done this once before years ago with the same regulator, but figured I fixed it with the new diaphram and spring. Has anyone else had this problem? Guess I'll be buying a big $ regulator, any experienced recommendations? If anyone has had this problem where you able to fix?

Thanks,
drag-n

P.S. - Now I have to dump my $40 oil change that I performed last week.

Is this pressure creep and is it previlent on inexpensive regulators? No one has ever seen this before?

Holley regulator??? for starters they will only flow about 40 GPH at 7.5 PSI which is worthless, they sell brand new for about $25.00 and you get what you pay for.

A BG 2 port would do the job ...$103.00

Available at better Performance Dealers World Wide....

Listen to Don! He turn me on to a B/G regulator last year. I had one of those cheap holley regulators and as don said they don't flow nothing. Now car pulls a lot sronger with that and the B/G 280 electric pump. I can feel the 11s coming.
