Confused header gasket r & r

read past threads on subject want to make sure I get it right first time ..seems like soaking the gaskets overnight and using tube type teflon sealer on bolts and trying to install studs with washers on the two ends to help sealing is the fix...my question is I have fel pro 1414 gaskets do I install them right from the water soaking wet..also do you put the the teflon on right before installing bolts...man what a shock when anti-freeze came pouring out .. I've had only chevy's in the past..thanks for this site

Im sorry no replys but more info would be great, like what are 1414 felpros, and what application are you doing? More in depth question will net a more in depth reply.

I take it you are having problems with sealing these? What type of headers are you using? What type of heads? New or used items? If used did you have them surfaced to ensure a good flat sealing surface, otherwise they will keep blowing and even get worse.

i think that soaking the header gasket is for the white asbestos type gasket from mr. gasket. im not so sure you should try that with the felpros. i have the felpros on my car and did not do that to them and they seal fine. make sure the head and header gasket surface is completely clean.
