heads&block
I know this has probably been asked a thousand times but i'll ask anyway. How good are the 452- 440 heads & what do these numbers on a 440 block tell us, & how good is it? 9-24-71 & 2536430-8 thanks.

The 452's are virtually the same as 906's and all the other late open chambered heads and also have the hard ex seat area. The 9/24/71 is the casting date. The 2546430-8 is an ID number. Both of these units (heads and block) are considered quality items.

The 452 heads have a flatter intake port than the 906 head and the exhaust port is better. That head is usually considered to be the best stock 440 head out there but there is really very little performance difference between them.

I'd say Manley, in New Jersey.
