Default Noisy fuel pump

My fuel pump is very noisy. What causes a pump to be loud, is it the pump itself, or does it have to do with the application.

Well, maybe you should tell us what kind of pump you are talking about. I am guessing that you are talking about an electric pump.

If you are talking about an electric pump, yes, they are loud. Properly insulating them from the chasis does a good job of cutting down on the noise. Different style/brand pumps also make different levels of noise.

I like the sound of mine, give me comfort that its still there and working. One night in the wee hours the noise stopped- eerie quite 60 miles from nowhere

23t that would be scary ! It is comforting to hear the pump running but the noise can also be distracting. I have a Carter electric pump and it is noisey, I bought the quieting kit but have not installed it yet. I think the rubber mounting bushings will help.

All that you need are some rubber gromets, where the bolts go throught the body/from. Then a piece of rubber that goes between the mounting bracket and the body/frame. It should set you back less than $5 and do a great job of keeping the noise out of the care.

Don't forget a return line. Also, if you're using Aluminium (any metal) gaslines, run a section of steel braid between the pressure side of the pump and the first section of Aluminium line.

The holley's are very loud, but you'll definately know when you're out of fuel!

Flow master makes a nice sound deadening kit.......2.5 in and out tail pipes just in front of the rear tires..... get a better stereo or take my x-wife with you....she never shuts up and can easily kill the sound of open headers

Anytime your MIL spouts off, just ask her if she wants a ride.
I thought it rode just fine.
