833 4 speed question
I'm looking into swapping the 727 in my 70 440 Cuda for a 4 speed. Not for racing just for more fun driving. I found out the 440 and Hemi used the 18 spline while all the other motors used the 23 spline. Will the 23 spline hold up behind the 440 or should I go right to the more expensive 18 spline? While I'm here, anybody have one for sale? Thanks for the help.

Not all 440's used the 18 spline also, I belive it was only the 440-6 cars and the Hemi's. Most certainly it will hold up, if in good condition. There tuff for sure!

hello, I think you'll find the 23 spline trans will hold up quite well
behind your 440 motor. the 23 spline also has various ratios. 2.66, 2.47, 3.09, first gears in transmissions. concerning a clutch , I would try the Mcloed B&B/long pressure plate with a series 200 or series 300 disc. It's referred to as the B&B/long combo clutch cover. hope this helps, |
