Help 1/4" Thermo-Quad Phenolic Spacer

Hi

I am finding it nearly impossible to find a 1/4" phenolic spacer for my 1 1/2" Secondary, Thermo-Quad. Does anyone know where I can get one? Is the Rochester Quadrajet spacer the same thing?

Thanks in advance.

The gaskets alone are 1/4 in height. Never use those flemsy paper gaskets to mount them to the intake. They also make a 1 and two inch phenolic resin spacer for these. They were stock on police cars and can be bought from Summit Racing and Jegs too.

what # carb do you have? ..... a 1 1/2 " secondary ??

The stock thick gasket is FINE ...... no need for that phenolic "spacer"......unless you are running an RV application OR you plan on closing OFF the heat-riser on the driver's side.

There is no need to close of the heat passage to use a phenolic spacer. They are not closed of the the police cars and they were stock on them. The spacer will help increase hp and tq and will help stop puddling on the stock intake floor as well as improve your rpm range. That's one more reason they were stock on police cars. We also use them on race cars since they will keep some heat from transfering to the carb from the intake which is always an hp plus there.

i am sure you must mean 1 1/2" primary. Sometimes the 1/4" phenolic spacer/gskt comes with the rebuild kit. But, I used to buy them individually from Chrysler. I am too lazy right now to go look it up, maybe later.
I know why you want one of them. It's because they work better and they are reuseable.
I ve tried the thicker spacers for a Quadrajet and they're slightly different.
Mr F., if you don't use the 1/4" spacer in stock apps it will throw off your choke qualification.

Advance auto sells the correct 1/4 gasket for them.

what I meant was - IF he experienced a closed off heat-riser IN the exh man. THAT would direct ALL of the gases through the intake (then to the drivers side) and heat the intake up ......... BIG TIME.

My error - I wrote on the past post that the heat riser/flapper was on the drivers side. It is of course on the PASSENGER side.

In my experience - the TQ likes to have a warm intake.

r c - I do realize that (concerning the choke) - did you think that I was suggesting NOT running the stock 1/4" part ?

Thanks Guys

It looks like I am talking about the standard 1/4" Chrysler spacer. Does anyone have a part number? If Jeg's and summit sell this item where can I find it online and what is their part number ?

Thanks again

You can get them for 4 or 5 bucks or so from Advance auto. Not sure if Jegs or Summit will have the stock 1/4 gasket though. I'd just call Summit and ask them. It's toll free call.

Summit Racing number mrg-759 $7.39

Jegs number 510-108-25 $15.99
720-57a $2.69

I'd use the 15.99 one myself and use the summit one next. Hope that helps.

Thanks dwc43

Unfortunatly the Mr Gasket 759 item is a four hole not open design. MR.G' items 56a and 57b are only 0.0625" thick and one is for a Q'Jet ......... Is this the same as a thermoquad mounting?

I still have not found an open 1/4" thermo-quad standard style gasket .......... Perhaps this is a standard Chrysler part?

Perhaps I will have to buy an entire rebuild kit just for the base gasket! My Thermo-quad has 1 1/2" primaries (Not seconadies - oops)

Thanks again

The 510 is for the holley spread bore and it will work and so will the quadrajet gasket. On some q jets gaskets I have had to file the rear holes out a little. Since they were fiber it is easy to do wil a big half round file.
That was the best I could do for you on there sites. I can get one locally that is a thermoquad gasket, but that's not much help to you over there. That 510 for the holley spreadbore I mentioned is a replacement carb for the thermoquad that holley made.

Default OK, I am only going to say this once

If I were like some 'businessmen' on this site, I'd be charging you big time for this info.
I finally got off my arse, and looked up the Mopar PN for the 1/4" spacer. Drum roll, please. #3698365.
Now the bad news, I haven't used it for several years, so, the number/ part may be out of service, now. Give it a try, let us know if it is still good.

Yes a good idea. I've heard it before. Plywood is a great insulator.
