Help Lower control arms

Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this question but it's the only one I get answers from. The torsion bar sockets in my lower control arms fit losely in the arm. Is that a problem? It's not like they are going to fall out but I would imagine that it could cause slop in the suspension. Is there any way to fix this or an upgrade to replace just the lower control arm?

Thanks
Walter

You need to replace them. Eventually they will spin out and leave the car sitting on the road. One of my techs at the dealership I worked at years ago had a purple '73 RoadRunner. When we came back from lunch one day the left front was sitting on the ground.

Also had a friend that rebuilt a Duster. The T bars were loose in the socket in the frame. He took flat sheet brass stock about .015 thick and hammered around the T bar and drove the T bar into the socket. That is not the way to fix it but it worked til he could get rid of it.

I'd replace the T bars and the Lower control arms if you want it fixed right. Also remeber the T bars have a left and right side and they also have a top side marked on the hex.

I think you missed the question dw43. I think Walter is asking about the looseness of the lowercontrol arm t-bar socket to the stamped steel sides of the lower control arm.

This (unless excessive) will not cause looseness. The only time this moves is when you adjust the front end ride height. Other than that it is bound tight by the tbar preload. Now I would say 0.015 isn't a problem but more than that may be an issue.
