Coilovers w/ Leafs??
Yesterday I saw a Roadrunner with a great ride hight so I pulled over and had to look under it. What I found was xhd leafs with coilover shocks. Could not find the owner and could not tell what shocks these were. Does anybody run this combo? What shocks are you using? How does it ride/hook? Look like a cheap way to get it up where I like it, what do you guys think? Thanks.

I ran this combo on my Duster, and now on my Scamp. The rear is using helper leafs with stock ones from a /6, coil over shocks are from a '72 Ranchero GT. They are the only ones I found in the cross reference book that had about the right height and stud diameters to match the Duster setup. Hope it helps..
BTW, the Duster can be seen at: http://www.geocities.com/ausydad/index.html |

Running copil overs or helper shocks is not a good idea. It will effect handling in a negative way. I have built sevral cars with full coil over only set ups and they work great and handle too. The coil over helper shocks you see are not hte same thing as a true coil over shock. The cheapest coil over shocks I can get start at 185.00 per side. Much moer than the cheap helper shocks. Stick with leafs and a good adjustable shock or get rid of the weight and install a real coil over kit. Not a cheapo Comp Engineering oe QA1 kit either. Those are both junk. Hope that helps.
