another stall question...
Putting a 727 behind the 328 ( .060 over 318 ) and I'm looking at which is gonna be the best stall for the 5 minute drive to work and some playing around town. The motor is a 328 with 10.2:1 CR, tunnel ram intake, Holley 450's, Dynomax headers, 4:09 gears in the Auburn Dana rear and 28" tires. Cam is a 296/.521-80 overlap MP purple. This all goes in to street trim A body (Scamp). Saving the 383/833/9" for the Duster...

Put a good shift kit and 2800 rpm convertor in your 904, and you'll be miles ahead. The added rotating mass of the 727 and added static mass of the 727 will detrimentally affect the performance of your 318 .

hey Ausydad
A 727 is the way to go for strength and long life. My experiance is mainly with big blocks . but a 28" tire 4:11 gear cam is 304/510 works well in my charger 2800-3200stall. How ever your car is lighter then mine so you may require less stall. 2400-2800 may be more in order . |

haha, 2800 stall?
that cam is HUGE for a 318. your lucky if it makes any power below 3500 rpm. you'll probably need a stall around 3500. 4000 stall with 4.56 gears would be the only way to make it really move, especially with a tunnel ram. why a 318? all those parts would be quite a bit faster on a 360! |
