cry2 binding fan pulley and crank pulley

I went to take my Runner out last night and heard an unusual sound from under the hood. When I opened it up sparks were flying (from metal to metal turning on each other).Engine is a 440/6 with power steering. Seems the top fan pulley is not in line with the grove on the crank pulley and rubbing on the edge. Anybody ever see this before?

Is this the first time out for this engine? If not, then check the water pump pulley/shaft. It may have gone bad and the tension on the belt is pulling the pump pulley down against the crank pulley.
Check all the pullies to see if they are tight on their respective shafts.

Sounds like the water pump bearing has gone bad!

Not the first time out. Motor was rebuilt and has only about 3800 miles on it. Everything appears tight. So whats next ?

Maybe the center of one of the pullies is weak and getting ready to break. Take all the belts off and see if you can bend any of the pulleys with your hands. Also see if the shafts/bearings are all tight. And the damper.Even the crank bearing. See it you can raise the crank at all.

I'm wondering what the dia's of these pulleys are. They shouldn't be able to touch without removing the mounting bolts.
