Default Cam Choice for my 440?

70 Roadrunner
750 holley DP
Torker Intake
Ported #346 heads
9.5 compression
Headers
2 1/2 exhaust with flowmasters
727 with 3500 stall
4.30 suregrip

Car currently has an older purple shaft ...292 duration 509 lift but has some bad lifters...i like how the cam sounds..so id like to stay close to that duration..any recommedatins on a cam? I found a Xtreme Energy Comp Cam with 294/306 duration and 519/524 lift...would this be a good choice? thanks!

is that a solid?

i would look at the hughes 5660 solid for big blocks, wicked idle and lotsa power from 2200 - 6500

that comp cam would not be a bad choice, but you'd make more power with a solid.

Get with Racer Brown. Tell them all of the engine specs, body weight, tranny type, gear ratio, tire size and what you expect from the engine and they will grind the cam that is best for your application.

A Racer Brown cam can put out more power than an entry level solid cam by the other guys.

Racer Brown is definitly the way to go, all you have to do is call Jim and tell him what you are doing and what you want. He will work with you and cut you a custom cam for YOUR car. He specializes in MOPARs. hell the man has an original lightweight hemi car. Jim doesnt come to work unil about 2:30pm est but he stays late. He wont steer you wrong and wont sell you anything you dont need unless you just have to have it. but he will acutually talk you out of spending more money than you have to if he can.

by the way i keep refering to RacerBrown as "Jim" cus he is the one and only employee...lol. no kidding. but the man knows his stuff he's been cutting cams since the beginning of time and has cut cams for ledgendary super stockers, and still uses the same lathes. Your cam could possibly be cut on the same lathe that sox and martin's cam was cut on.

here is his info,, he doesnt have a web site so dont bother looking.
