Default carb quest

I have a 1974 Imperial with a 440 4bbl. The problem is that the thermal quad is junk. I guess that the polimer center section is warped because it leaks fuel when it is cold. It also has a unbelievable rich running, hard starting, blow the mufflers off fuel problem, if you know what I mean.

? is what can i use to replace the carb. now remember that i have a clearance problem also. the factory carb and air cleaner spacing has an indent into the hood pad. the intake is obviously a spread bore style and carter afb or avs carbs are square bore and no room for the adapter. Ihave checked for even a replacement intake, but they too are spread bore styles.

There is a rodchester replacement $500.00 and Iam not sure that it will clear.
It also says that there is an adapter plate that comes with it.

The t-quad has been rebuilt at least 3 times and has had the same problems each time

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If I recall, there is a TQ in the RWD Parts For Sale area of the board. I think they wanted $150. You can also try Demonsizzler.

If it is the phenolic bowl that is causing the leak, Demonsizzler has new bowls.

I used a Carter 625 on top of my 360 iron intake. It did only need a 1/4 spacer sold by MoPar. It comes in a pak of 4. They are a spacer made for T-Q.
I needed no other spacer. No leaks.

Do up the T-Q via Demonsizzler.

you can get another spreadbore from advance auto parts for $150. (not sure if its a quadrapuke or thermoquad) but just have them look it up for a 72 monaco with a 440. (i just called my wife at work and had her look it up last week)

or what about a holley spreadbore?? my dad actually has a 750 in the garage that is a spreadbore, but it's missing a few adjuster screws and it's covered in dust . if the thing is warped, why not a new one? i don't like thermoquads, but they are better than quadrajunks...i like simple holley's that perform....

do they make spreadbore demons???

BTW: can you not get a pre '74 dual plane that isn't spreadbore? or does it have to be '74 due to emissons??

Is this your secondary car, if so I could rebuild your TQ, test it on a engine using 02 sensors, and send it back to you. It's a 2-week turn around. Or I could sell you a good middle section, a new kit, floats. It sounds like the rubber seals that are compressed by the upper housing are leaking. They look like Quad or flat o-rings. They set in a well next to the venturi openning (primary's). Third option is I would send you a 440-73-74 TQ. My labor on rebuilding a TQ is $75.00 plus parts.

Can you give me the list number? It is on the drivers side rear mounting ear. E-Mail if interested: vernvesco@mindspring.com

I carry new and used carb parts. I carry new and Good floats both plastic and brass.

LOL

No Demon Spreadbores

I think you need to call the Sizzler he'll fix you up.
