Default Some questions for sixers

I have been thinking of pulling the flathead six out of my Hobart welder and putting in a slant six. Has anyone done a flat to slant swap? I need to know if the bolt patterns on the bellhousing are the same and if they might used similar flywheels. If this works out the forklift will be the next victim. Also any comments about the later(redesigned head 76 or so)vs earlier slant sixes in regards to durability and interchangability of parts.

Dont know if the flywheels and bolt patterns are the same or not, but the newer heads are better. THey have the cast in threads for the spark plugs so no leaks like the older slants had. Plus on a stock engine you can mill them .095 to raise the compression quite a bit for some added hp and tq.
