Water pump bypass hose
Anyone ever blow this out?
I have blown 3 since last year on my fresh smallblock. Running a hi-flow 165 deg t-stat and temp guage says 165 so I romp on it and SPLASH! Sticky coolant all over everything. If the car warms up to 170, it's fine. All I can think of is that the t-stat isn't fully open and the bypass sees the brunt of the flow. I just worry about the borderline near 165. Looking for similar experience someone has had with this. BTW, it did the same thing with a 195 deg tstat too! |

Drill 3 - 1/8"dia. holes approx. equal spaced in the thermostate to allow some fluid flow and air to escape while it is warming up.

Is the hose just blowing off or is it actually tearing apart? They used to make silicone ones, not sure if they still do though.

Don't "romp" on it until it warms up!
